Love in the Pyramid
by
Abigail Sommers

...When they reached the camp, Doctor Garrison woke Matthew . "Get up son, we're home."

Matthew smiled at his father. "Oh? Thanks, dad."

Melissa almost fell out of the jeep. She was stunned. No one had told her that this courier was Doctor Garrison's son. Her mind started to leap in ten directions at once. One second she thought: maybe it was his son in the pyramid. Then she decided: no, it's just a coincidence. Still, it could have been. No, he's probably here on a visit.

John came up to the jeep. "It is good to see you back, Mr. Matthew."

Melissa did fall out of the jeep then. She had been stepping down when John spoke, and now she was lying in the sand at their feet.

Marche was first to respond. "Melissa, are you all right, dear?" Melissa nodded silently. Her face was ashen, but her eyes were glued to Matthew's face. If his name was Matthew too, and he had a tent, then it could have been him. Her mind was confused, and her heart was beating wildly.

Suddenly Matthew leaned down to help her up. He smiled, "Cat got your tongue?"

It was him! She remembered the day, months ago, in the dark Pyramid passageway.
Suddenly he was next to her. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do. When I pass you, hold onto my jacket and follow me out.” “All right.”

She was a little embarrassed. The corridor was very small and even with her back to the wall, she almost filled the whole space.

Matthew figured he’d get her back now for her earlier comments. He started to push past her, and as he pressed tight against her, he heard a sound. Stopping with his body pressing against the length of hers, he whispered in her ear, &#147Don’t make a sound. I think I hear your guide coming back. I’ll explain later.”

Melissa was confused. She was shivering all over, but she didn’t know if it was the cold wall pressing against her back, the excitement of his maleness pressing into her stomach and thighs, or the fear of what he might be planning to do to her.
As she remembered, a blush spread over her neck and face and she felt completely tongue tied. She couldn't move her eyes. He was young, young, young! That was all that she could think of at the moment.

Marche and Doctor Garrison were puzzled watching the action and reaction taking place between Matthew and Melissa. Suddenly Doctor Garrison thought he understood. He looked at Marche with an expression that suggested he at last realized what was going on. He finally stopped laughing long enough to speak to Melissa. "Melissa, didn't you know this was my son?"

Melissa, brushing off the sand, still couldn't speak, so she just shook her head no.

The light had begun to dawn in Matthew's mind, too. "You thought my father was the man inside the pyramid, didn't you...?"
