Teacher Learns a Lesson

by Cynthia MacGregor

hearts ...Not that Paige was holding out for Prince Charming. But she did require that a man be kind, interesting, caring, and able to hold up his end of a conversation. Not unreasonable requests? Try and find a man who fit all of the above and didn’t object to Paige’s voluminous girth.

If she ever found the man, she was going to hang his picture on the bulletin board with the rest of the pictures of endangered species....

The Night The Scale Broke by Abigail Sommers

...Julia heard her name mispronounced as usual. "We have a new member tonight. Ms. Julia Constagle." The syrupy voice intoned gleefully as she searched the audience.

Karen nudged Julia. "That's you. Go on up. They won't bite you."

Julia glared at her friend as she pulled her heavy form up from the chair. Julia tried to smile but her face felt frozen as she lumbered to the front of the huge gymnasium.

Her eyes remained directed towards the back of the room. At the very bottom of her vision, she sensed the pale swell of her breasts. To the right, barely within her peripheral line of sight, she thought that the dark-haired guy’s head moved. She could imagine, clearly, the smirk that he was delivering to his redheaded pal.

As the charcoal pencils of the dozen students began to murmur against the textured drawing paper, she let the classroom fade from her perceptions....
Secret Admirer by Deborah McClatchey

Karen knew one day she’d find the man of her dreams. The man she’d fantasized about who would treat her as his queen. Who would love her weight and be proud to be seen with her. He’d be handsome too, and make her life rich with love....
